Tadeusz Styka, whose "Rough Rider" portrait of Theodore Roosevelt hangs in the West Wing of the White House, painted at least a dozen portraits of the Clarks and was well paid for it. But his first job for the family was as a painting instructor for young Huguette. He may have been romantically interested in Huguette, but he married another. His daughter, Wanda, became Huguette's goddaughter and wrote letters to her for decades.
